Congratulations on your engagement, and upcoming marriage!
This is a very exciting and busy time for you as a couple - a time of growth and discernment. Our role at Christ the King Parish is to help you prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage and also prepare you for married life.
We are pleased to be teaming up with Ascension Press to present “Joy-Filled Marriage”. A two pronged program that includes “God’s Plan for LOVE” and “Life Skills for COUPLES”.
“God’s Plan for LOVE” provides couples with a rich understanding of the teachings of the church and offers them the tools to live them out in married life. The program will help engaged couples to see the significance of their call to married life, to appreciate what the Catholic Church teaches about marriage and why and to embrace the gift of grace that makes a lifelong, joy-filled marriage possible.
“Life Skills for Couples” is the virtue-based life-skills component of the Joy-Filled Marriage Program. Life Skills is designed to help engaged couples set patterns of thought and behavior that will ensure lifelong, joy-filled marriages. The program will help engaged couples to learn practical strategies for a successful marriage based on sound principles, to discover more about themselves and each other, and to recognize topics of importance in their relationship, identify shared goals and set concrete plans for building a joy-filled marriage.
Marriage Preparation Fees
Due to the increasing cost of materials and resources for each of the Sacraments, and the financial position of the parish, couples will be asked to pay a Sacramental Registration Fee of $400.00. The fee has been broken into two parts--$200.00 for stole fees (covers the use of the church for the practice, the wedding ceremony, heating, electricity, clean up, etc.) and $200 to defer the costs of marriage preparation materials and resources. This can be paid in installments, in 2 payments or in one lump sum and should be paid prior to the completion the marriage preparation forms.
Engaged Couples are asked to contact the parish and speak to the parish priest at least 6 months in advance of their wedding date. Be sure to check church availabilty before setting your wedding date and ordering invitations.
