Preparation for First Holy Communion takes place at the Grade 2 level with children celebrating their First Holy Communion typically on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, although this can change.
Christ the King Parish uses the God's Gift: Eucharist resources published by Loyola Press. Preparation sessions take place during the Sunday morning Mass (10 am) with a family retreat scheduled just before celebration of the sacrament.
Parents who are interested in having their child journey through the preparation process are invited to contact the parish priest. Preparation sessions are held once per year. Parents wil be required to provide a copy of their child's Baptism certificate at the time of registration, if their child was not baptized in the parish.
Preparation fees of $50.00 per child are payable at the time of registration. This assists in covering the costs of the sacramental preparation resources and retreat.
